MRYS provides young people from targeted communities with a warm, safe and healthy environment to meet up and hang out with friends, to take part in a range of needs based, structured programmes and activities, to interact with positive adult role models.
They can also avail of up to date relevant and accurate information on issues that affect them, get support for formal education and the chance to take part in a range of activities and events that they may otherwise not have access to, for example, Youth Exchange Programmes.
Make a difference
As the old man walked the beach at dawn, he noticed a youth ahead of him picking up starfish and flinging them into the sea. Finally catching up with the youth, he asked him why he was doing this. The answer was that the starfish was stranded. The old man said, “How can your effort make any difference?” The young man looked at the starfish in his hand and then threw it to the safety of the waves. “It makes a difference to this one” he said.
